Soros-funded Bard Prison Initiative conducts 5th commencement in a maximum security prison
The Bard Prison Initiative celebrated its 5th commencement ceremony at the Eastern Correctional Facility in Napanoch, New York, a maximum security prison. Students completed the academic requirements to receive both Associate and Bachelor of Arts degrees. The program was profiled recently on CBS’s 60 Minutes.

Institutional investors sway Congress to include clean energy funding in stimulus package
A group of 44 institutional investors managing over $1.7 trillion in assets called on Congressional leaders to include significant funding for energy efficiency, clean energy and clean transportation in the economic stimulus bill.

The 2nd World Future Energy Summit was held in Abu Dhabi on January 19 – 21. 17,000 attendees from 79 countries and 350 exhibitors gathered for the world’s preeminent renewable energy summit.

Leaders of private, public and social sectors descend on Washington for the Inauguration
PCG was in attendance at the Inauguration at the invitation of the incoming Obama administration. In addition to the ceremony itself, PCG was represented at both the International Conservation Caucus Foundation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus celebrations.
The ICCF’s gala highlighted achievements in conservation by international companies, NGOs and government communities and promoted US leadership in sound management of the world’s natural resources.
The Latino Caucus welcomed Latino elected officials and community leaders from across the country in recognition of the historic turnout by the Latin voters in the 2008 election.

Costa Rican President pushes for novel environmental finance program
Working in concert the President of Costa Rica’s Forever Costa Rica team, The Nature Conservancy and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the Linden Trust for Conservation continues to lead the development of this pioneering conservation program. PCG visited TNC’s San Jose office and toured remote and fragile ecosystems which the program is designed to protect. Partnerships and philanthropic co-investment models are in formation with a number of parties including the Walton Foundation.
